A RIDE WITH MY SON

Hi all, 25/11/18.
This ride was very special for me. My youngest son, who had come back from abroad one week ago, came riding with me.
I have 4 sons, all learned to ride here on the farm.
Usually whenever one comes home, they will want to come home for a ride with me.
So this time, my youngest son came home from a year in China, teaching English. Straight after that he went to Canada to do voluntary work on horse ranches. So he rode there too.
From there we went to NY and Washington DC and then flew from NY to Holland to visit my oldest son who lives there. The third son met up with him in Holland and together they also went to London for 4 days.
So now that he is home he was happy to go for a ride with me in the hills on an 800 acre farm.
I had met up with Mike in HongKong in June and came with him to Shenzhen and stayed 2 nights near his apartment, in the same building complex.

OK so here some pictures of Friday's ride.

Normal life again

Well, whatever "normal life" means.
My life has never been a 100% normal, if you know what I mean.
I have never done a 8 am to 5 pm job. But been on the farm since 1981 and done milking cows, raising calves and pulling out calves to raising 4 boys and homeschooled them for approximately 10 years, so not a normal life really.
Then once the boys had left home, we ran a backpackers hostel and a riding school for children.
I used to teach 15 kids per week 3 days a week.
In 2015 I gave all that up and maintained 5 horses just for the few people that would come.
I still do the occasional trek for people but mainly trek with my friends and go to their treks.
I went on a weekend horse camp at Maratoto Road, ( on the way to Thames turn right before Hikutaia) and there is a lovely far where we camped and rode all weekend.
I also went to a local horse camp.
But I go often riding with friends Keri, Elly, Sonja and Maxine.

I recently purchased an e-bike from a Tauranga agent, it is a Chinese make but a good model where you sit nice and upright. It has 3 modes of speed or power and within these modes there are 5 levels of speed. It has 7 gears so you can do a lot within all these modes.
my new e-bike

I have been to Katikati township twice to bike around . I bought a bike rack to put on the back of my old Camry car and the bike fits perfectly with some bungees attached.

We have often Skyped to our family overseas and now we have Michael back from his overseas stint.

I think of my time in Israel often and would love to go back, but not alone, preferably with Brian. He knows I can drive a car there now so anyway, this is too early to say if we go back there or not.

Amber my golden Labrador has had an eye operation done. She had a benign growth in her left eye . She was operated by Leeza Schneider, from Holistic vets in Tauranga. Leeza is a person that you really want to hug all the time, she gives you the warm fuzzies a lot. She is a genuine , really caring person, for the animal as well as the person.
shaved around the eye for the eye operation.

Bella
Bella was also treated by her, for her ongoing cough and sneezing and got some grape-seed and Vit C and a homeopathic drops for helping her respiratory and immune system.

Looking forward to seeing Lexi, daughter of Jos and Rachel, who are in Melbourne.
Going there on the 5th of December till the 15th.

Also a very happy moment for me was picking up Michel from the airport from his travels.

He done China for one year( teching) then Canada for workaway volunteer work on farms, and then he went to Toronto, New York, then Wshington DC and then flew to Holland , sneeked 4 days of London into it, and did that with his brother Dave,( they were together staying at Aaron's) and finally, he flew home after stopping again in Shen Zhen to pick up his suitcase.
