Ok so now we are in January 2026. In November I went to the Hauraki Western riding club competition" Triple Challenge" . it was a full weekend so I came on Friday. Saturday was a practise and Sunday was the competition. I came home with 4 ribbons! 3 3rd placements and one 4th placement. Not too bad for Cherry and I who are really only beginners at this.
Second horse-camp was at Pleasant view Equestrian farm in Cambridge, in December.
Bridget and I went there on Friday and set up camp, put the horses around a tape and a middle tape in the night. They had a trough there so that's all good.
We did a 2 hour trek that afternoon. A lovely property with lovely views, a small lake and a white swan.
The next day we went out from Pleasant view to another farm 30 minutes from Pleasant view, owned by the Te marama trek people. We did a self guide trek there. Beautiful farm, lovely views.
Went back to Pleasant view again for another night there. Next day we did another good long trek at Pleasant view with 3 of Annette's friends who hired horses there.
After lunch we went back home. Great weekend. Cherry was very unfit to start with but after day 3 she was much fitter.
The next weekend was riding and staying at Bridget's place in Pongakawa, and riding from her place to the neighbour's farm. Great riding. They also taught me how to play " five crowns" card game.
The day after she took me and Cherry in her double float to the Mamaku's for a ride with the Rotorua pony and trekking club. A very interesting ride.
After that I stayed at Bridget's again and we played more cards. The next day we ( I in the truck) drove to TECT Park in PyesPa Road and we rode there for 1 hour. It was my first time there. Really liked it.
The road to it was quite windy and up and down. But I did it. From there I drove home.
The following weekend was our Hauraki summer camp at Omahu.
The weekend after that was the EBOP Hunt self catering trek at Matata and we rode just one day. The next day it rained and a lot of wind in the night.
But that day we rode it was great weather and awesome riding. We got to the caravan again, and the view again.
